New garden in Vineland
The Moses F. Rittenhouse branch has a brand-new garden. Many thanks to the volunteers from the Lincoln Garden Club and Horticultural Society: Angela Calixto, John Calixto, Tony Cliff, Mollie Holloway, Melody Kerr, Shirley Martin and Greta Munt, for all their hard work and expertise. We also thank the Town of Lincoln for their support. As well, the planters have returned to the front door of the library, full of gorgeous flowers and plants, thanks to the green thumbs of Angela and John.
Summer is almost here
We’re gearing up for a great summer of inspiration at your library. We have lots of programs for all ages:
TD Summer Reading Club (TD SRC): Kids ages two to 12 are invited to join this free club. They can earn buttons for every book read and personalize their own book bag. All kids who read and report on 10 books by Aug. 13 receive an invitation to the TD SRC Final Party, featuring comedic juggler Greg Tarlin. Registration and book reporting start on Tuesday, July 3.
Be inspired this summer. We have planned dozens of programs to inspire kids of all ages, from Let’s Talk Science, presented in conjunction with McMaster University, to craft programs, to fun with STEM. Program registration begins Monday, June 18.
As well, we are participating in the Healthy Kids Community Challenge Niagara (HKCC), which encourages kids to power off and play! Kids will tend a garden in Vineland, enjoy StoryWalks at various locations around Lincoln, and more. Plus, we’ll have HKCC Activity Passports available — complete eight activities by Aug. 31 to win a prize.
Summer reading clubs for teens and adults: Teens and adults can earn prizes for reading their favourite books. Sign up beginning Tuesday, July 3.
For details, pick up a summer programs brochure today, or check our website.
Canada Day Weekend Hours
Both branches will be closed Monday, July 2. Please note that Sunday hours in Beamsville end for the summer on June 24, and resume after Labour Day.
